With approximately 8,500 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students, Notre Dame is a comprehensive modern university with an excellent reputation for its teaching, scholarship, and research.

As the only formally religious institution within the Association of American Universities, Notre Dame represents a vibrant academic community where scientific rigor and faith-based values synergize to serve the most vulnerable. Notre Dame’s “2033” strategic framework prioritizes Science and Engineering for a World in Need, underpinned by major investments in developing state-of-the-art research infrastructure and fostering a collaborative environment that attracts top-tier scientists and engineers.

Over the past decade, Notre Dame has directed over $210 million towards establishing biomedical research-focused centers and institutes in areas such as precision health, data science, and drug discovery. During that time, the University has also constructed more than 400,000 square feet of research facilities and laboratories across two connected buildings, and strengthened core facilities—establishing an environment that fosters collaboration and translational impact.

Notre Dame is located adjacent to South Bend, Indiana, which is a metropolitan area with a population of nearly 325,000.
