Interested in Volunteering?

Are you a woman in STEM, or a STEM academic looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to encourage middle school youth to get excited about STEM?

What do you do as a volunteer?

Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) is a one-day career conference for middle-school students to have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops led by volunteers, meet STEM role models who live and work in their own communities, and learn more about careers in STEM.

As an EYH workshop leader, you will have the opportunity to help inspire the next generation of STEM academics and professionals. These workshops are a place for participants to have a fun and rewarding experience while learning some math and science! Each workshop typically lasts 55 minutes and hosts 10-12 youths per session.

In addition, we welcome Notre Dame students as general volunteers. Our general volunteers are an essential part of EYH, and have a variety of duties, including assisting with workshops, serving lunch, or shuttling the attendees from place to place.

To learn more about EYH and see a sample event schedule, please visit the national EYH network website here.

As an EYH workshop leader or general volunteer, you will have the opportunity to become a STEM role model by developing skills to engage girls and other students from underrepresented and/or underserved communities. By connecting with a role model, you help make students’ aspirations real, concrete, and achievable.
