OPEN CALL FOR IMAGES
The story of the prophet Elijah can be subject to many interpretations– religious, mystical, political, and psychological, among many others.
Opera star and South Bend’s native son NATHAN GUNN returns to our city on March 1st to take the role of the great Old Testament prophet ELIJAH in one of the most beloved musical oratorios of all time. The composer Felix Mendelssohn created the music for Elijah’s story as one of the most dramatic and spectacular in the Bible.
We invite you to join Nathan, a host of musicians from the region, and poets and painters throughout history and tell the story of ELIJAH from your perspective in today’s world.
Build with us a book about Elijah, by submitting one or more pictures taken with a mobile device. We are calling the book 150 IMPRESSIONS ABOUT ELIJAH, and it will include your pictures alongside thoughts about the prophet collected from historical and modern scholars.
All pictures submitted early will be considered for possible inclusion in an image showcase that will be projected on Leighton Hall at the university campus on the day of the performance.
The images you submit should refer to one or more of the following themes in the story according to your imagination:
A CHARIOT OF FIRE TAKES ELIJAH INTO HEAVEN
