The Sorin Seminar for Faculty began in 2016 as a way for faculty at Notre Dame to learn more about the Congregation of Holy Cross as well as the Catholic intellectual tradition and Catholic social tradition. The seminar consists of two-and-a-half days of meeting with new colleagues and gaining an in-depth understanding of the tradition that formed the University of Notre Dame.
Features of the seminar have included a conversation with Fr. John Jenkins, C.S.C., on Catholic higher education, a guided tour of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Log Chapel and Holy Cross community cemetery with Fr. Kevin Grove, C.S.C., and lively conversation with peers about their experiences at Notre Dame.
The seminar is hosted by Fr. Austin Collins, C.S.C., Vice President for Mission Engagement and Church Affairs. Fr. Austin invites faculty members who have been recommended by either their peers or their dean to participate in the seminar.
Feel free to reach out to Katie Smith, Associate Director, with any questions about the seminar.
