Please consider this invitation from Laura Walker to join the Notre Dame Toastmasters club.
As you are meeting with your teams and considering professional development options available, a great option at Notre Dame to build communication and leadership skills is through the Notre Dame Toastmasters club. Notre Dame Toastmasters offers a safe and supportive environment for those looking to communicate and lead with confidence. Meetings are held virtually and in person weekly on Tuesdays at 4:30 and allow members an ongoing platform to work on both prepared speeches and impromptu speaking skills.
Each meeting is structured to build one’s acumen on:
– Conducting a meeting in a timely and professional manner
– Managing the use of filler words or disfluencies when speaking
– Awareness of gestures and use of body language
– Eye contact
– Vocal variety
– Listening and giving constructive feedback
– Opportunities to lead on special projects
In addition, Notre Dame Toastmasters is fun! Members meet and learn from colleagues across campus on a variety of topics that grow one as a person.
To learn more about the club, visit their website or contact toastmasters@nd.edu. Our very own Laura Walker currently serves as on the board for the Notre Dame Toastmasters club so you can also reach out to her with questions!
