Milan Booker
Milan is a senior majoring in American Studies and Pre-Health from Chicago, IL and Nogales, AZ. Milan aspires to be an Obstetrician and Gynecologist to help eliminate healthcare disparities for women of color in underserved communities. She is interested in learning and understanding the relationship between history, society, culture, and medicine, and how they interact together to form these health disparities for women of color. She is focusing on the Latinx Obstetric Violence Project and the Cesarean Incision Project.
Kayla Bucci
Kayla is a senior majoring in science preprofessional studies with minors in health, humanities, and society & anthropology. She is a member of the Kellogg International Scholars Program and is interested in global health, public health, and international development. She is working on the Ecological Stoves and CTSI project.
Montse Curran
Montse is a senior majoring in Science Preprofessional Studies and Anthropology. Montse is also on the pre-PT track and plans to attend physical therapy school after graduation. She is interested in the long-lasting physical impacts that current healthcare practices and systems have on women’s health. She is working on the Incisions Decisions project.
Aislinn Fernandes
Aislinn is a sophomore majoring in Science Pre-Professional Studies and minoring in Compassionate Care in Medicine with plans to enter into the medical field and work to address healthcare disparities felt by women in minority groups in America. She is interested in learning more about the ways in which society and culture influence medical decisions and practices.
Maggie Gazda
Maggie is a junior majoring in Science Preprofessional Studies with minors in Anthropology and Health, Humanities, and Society. She is interested in attending medical school after graduating from Notre Dame.
Sarah Hirsch
Sarah is a first-year student majoring in Anthropology and Pre-Health from Boston, MA. She is interested in global health as well as women’s health and in learning more about equity in healthcare systems. She is working on the Latinx Obstetric Violence Project.
Elizabeth Horwitz
Elizabeth is a senior majoring in Science Preprofessional. She is interested in studying the social determinants of health and the ways in which health disparities manifest in various populations. She aspires to go on to medical school after completing her undergraduate degree. She is focusing on the Ecological Stoves, COVID Doctors, and Neonatal Lines projects.
Kat Lauinger
Kat is a junior from Seattle, WA, studying anthropology and science preprofessional studies. She is interested in learning more about healthcare disparities and global and public health issues, and hopes to attend medical school in the future. She is focusing on the CTSI project.
Sophia Lopez
Sophia is a junior majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior with a Poverty Studies Interdisciplinary Minor from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is interested in promoting women’s health and studying ways to address and overcome barriers to healthcare access. Sophia plans to attend medical school in the future.
Valentina Morillas
Valentina is a junior studying Neuroscience and Behavior with minors in Anthropology and Global Health from Miami, FL. She plans to attend medical school to pursue her passion for Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a focus on addressing healthcare disparities related to gender and race. She is working on the Incisions Decisions Project.
Avery Njau
Avery is a junior studying History and Arts and Letters Pre-Health from Bloomington, IN. She is interested in disparities that affect women’s health and plans to attend medical school in the future. She is working on the CTSI project.
