This is a sample video showing evolution of the p-process during a shock wave propagation through an oxygen-neon burning layer of a 25 solar mass type II Supernova.
At the beginning the s-process nuclei exist in the environment. The inset shows the temperature in GK and the red dot indicate the current temperature value. As the shockwave moves through the zone, the s-nuclei are destroyed by gamma-rays and proton-rich isotopes are formed. Once the shockwave passes, the proton-rich nuclei decay towards stability populating the stable p-nuclei.
