Mission

The CST Learning and Research Initiative is a collaboration of faculty and administrators from Catholic colleges and universities across the United States. We are committed to facilitating the deeper integration of Catholic social teaching, thought, and tradition into the missions, curricula, co-curricular programming, faculty development, and daily operations of our own institutions of Catholic higher education and those of all interested colleagues. We conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications, develop and bring attention to our work through conference presentations, and offer workshops and seminars. We do this work because the suffering of the world demands such a response from Catholic higher education.

Through national meetings over recent years, the Initiative has conducted campus focus groups, collected oral histories of student understanding of CST, developed a rubric for curricular and research purposes, examined institutional practice across contexts, and facilitated conversations toward learning and application of CST principles.

A special issue of the Journal of Catholic Higher Education (Vol. 37/1, May, 2018, available here) is comprised of articles resulting from our collaboration. For individual copies, see the Publications section of the CSTLRI website.

This site is a working platform for our work/research. We welcome input and collaboration.
