I thought this was hilarious. I just got back from Vienna, and there are record stores everywhere there – it really is becoming super popular to own records and record players. You can buy a player for as low as $50 on Amazon right now, and it’s fairly decent (speakers built in). I think it’s fascinating how this trend is coming back in style. I think that I like listening to things like records, tapes or the radio because it makes it a little harder for me to switch songs. When I’m listening to Youtube or Spotify, I tend to just skip around a ton, but with something that makes that harder, I’m forced to pay attention and listen to entire albums (which I would never do otherwise).
Professor Hollis, I can definitely relate to this article. Although technology is at a point where music can be played with minimal imperfections, there is something to be said about authenticity. Sometimes quality is in the imperfections!
