I feel like this article encompasses the theme of this class and the film that we watched this past week because it talks about social entrepreneurship and the traditional model of providing donations for poorer nations like Haiti. Although donating money may seem to have positive ramifications, in reality, it is one of the main causes of the end of businesses. In a sense, it is not a sustainable option for the long run. Changing how donations are handled from a local entrepreneur like providing small loans to keep businesses surviving like Daniel Jean-Louis’ firm, Bridge Capitals, can provide a different perspective on changing the industry in a more beneficial than detrimental manner. Any thoughts?
