Bio

Dr. Sergey Leonov, PhD, Dr.Sc., Professor at the University of Notre Dame. He received his PhD from The Baltic State University in 1990, and a senior Doctor of Science degree from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2006. He worked in research and higher education institutions in Moscow, Russia, including Joint Institute for High Temperature of the Russian Academy of Sciences where he was a Head of Department, and, concurrently, Moscow Open University where he was a Professor. In 2013-2014, he was a Visiting Professor at the Ohio State University, USA. Currently, he is a Full Research Professor at the Universit of Notre Dame.
His research interests and contributions are primarily in the areas of Plasma Physics, Fluid Dynamics, Plasma Aerodynamics, Plasma-Assisted Combustion, Supersonics/Hypersonics and Measuring/Experimental Techniques. His research activity over the last 35 years has included experimental work, analytical predictions, physical interpretation of data, as well as close involvement in numerical simulations. He has over 400 publications, including 80+ peer-reviewed journal papers in these specific and other related fields. Dr. Leonov is an Associate Fellow of AIAA and an IEEE Senior Member, AIAA Plasmadynamics and Lasers Technical Committee Member, Coordinator of Plasma Aerodynamics Discussion Group, EUCASS Flow Physics Technical Committee Member, FLUCOME Honorary Member, Section Editor-in-Chief at Aerospace J. (mpdi) and Technical Physics Letters, etc.
