Sydney Heller

Sydney is a junior with an Electrical Engineering major, a Multimedia concentration, and a Computing & Digital Technologies (Digital Arts) minor. She is originally from the Quad City Area on the Iowa-Illinois border, but on campus she calls Welsh Family Hall her home. In addition to being a SWE Director, Sydney is a Tour Guide, a Themed Entertainment Association (TEA@ND) Skills Session Lead, and a Transpose dancer.

My name is Sofia Dillhoff and I am a sophomore majoring in computer science. I currently reside in Lewis Hall and I am originally from Cincinnati, OH! As the SWE Director of Advertisement & Social Media, I run the social media accounts for ND’s chapter of SWE. On campus I am involved in Notre Dame’s Women’s boxing club (Baraka Bouts) and the Engineering Leadership Council. I am passionate about empowering women and I have loved the welcoming feeling I get from my peers in SWE!

Outside of SWE, Madeleine is a member of EnableND, E-Week Chair for ELC, and on the women’s rugby team. She enjoys walking around the lakes and going to Noble Family Dining Hall at St. Mary’s College.

Caroline is a junior studying mechanical engineering with a minor in engineering corporate practice. She is originally from Harrison, New York but on campus lives in Flaherty Hall. In SWE, Caroline is the Co-Director of corporate sponsorship and she is also a member of ELC. Outside of school, Caroline loves going for runs outside, skiing, and hanging out with friends.

Emma is a senior studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy Studies. Born and raised in Colorado, Emma has a deep passion for the environment and loves spending time outdoors. Eventually she would like to use her degree towards sustainability research or developing clean energy. At Notre Dame, she stays busy with club sports, SWE, and undergraduate research. A few of her hobbies include skiing, tennis, field hockey, and running with her black labs, Libby & Max.

Maxine Tan is a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering living in Welsh Family Hall. As the Co-Mentorship director, she organizes events and programs aimed toward helping underclassmen with their path through engineering. Outside of SWE, Maxine is a TA at the Engineering Innovation Hub, a member of the electrical subsystem of Notre Dame Formula Racing, and a college mentor for the nonprofit Engineering Tomorrow. She is also currently doing research with Dr. Gary Bernstein in the Electrical Engineering Department on blackbody radiation.

Kailee is a Junior Electrical Engineering major from Mendham, New Jersey living in Flaherty Hall. As mentorship director, she plans discernment events for underclassmen as well as catalyzing mentor-mentee relationships. Outside of SWE, she is a designer for The Dome yearbook and the Family Pillar Head for Flaherty Hall.

Olivia is a sophomore mechanical engineering major who lives in Pasquerilla East. She is the co-director of Outreach and enjoys communicating with local schools and planning events for others to learn more about women in engineering! She is from Woodbury, Minnesota and enjoys being a part of the ultimate frisbee team on campus, as well as taking part in the university’s student government.

Sarah is a junior mechanical engineering and program of liberal studies double major. On campus, she lives in Flaherty Hall and hails from Wisconsin. As this year’s professional development director, she organizes events and activities to promote the growth of professional skills and prepare SWE members for the job search and application process. Outside of SWE, she participates in the Notre Dame Rocketry Team and oceanic spume particle research.

Kara is a sophomore studying Computer Science. She also serves on the Club Coordination Council in the Special Interest Division, participates in CS4Good and PrismND, and is the YouTube and Mental Health Commissioner of Howard Hall. She also works on campus at OIT and South Dining Hall.

She is the SWE Social Director this year and will be responsible for planning social events for SWE members to bond at. Beyond SWE, she is also involved with undergraduate research, WVFI, and Engineers without Borders.

Sydney grew up Bethlehem, PA. Throughout her time at Notre Dame, she has worked with Irish Satellite Club and two different research labs on campus. Most recently she is working in the O’Sullivan Biophotonics Lab. Sydney is currently the SWE Electrical Engineering Director and project manager for the Ground Station Project with IrishSat.
