Throughout the year, SWE holds numerous social events for the women engineers at Notre Dame to connect and have fun outside of the classroom. These opportunities include events held by each of the dorms once per semester, organized by the dorm directors. Other social events include donut socials, a ski trip, and numerous picnics and banquets because, of course, eating good food is a great way to break down barriers and bring people together. Many of the events are focused on rejuvenating the mental health of the students as they balance their coursework and lives outside of the classroom. Other events focus on volunteering or creating a community between the under and upperclassmen engineers at Notre Dame.
Part of what makes SWE special is the bonds that are created through the numerous events each semester. Engineering at Notre Dame is very difficult, but with a great group of women working together, each semester becomes possible and a sure success.
