Our January 2025 topic is “The Secret Social Life of Bacteria” with Dr. Maggie Fink, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame!
We hope you all will join us on January 21st, 6:00 pm at Chicory Cafe, South Bend to learn about how bacterial social lives contribute to our health and functioning, the development of disease, and our understanding of the world around us. We look forward to hearing your questions!
The Michiana Science Cafe is part of a global movement to make science available to everyone and encourage communities to participate in conversations about all types of science. The cafes take place in casual settings, are targeted towards adults, and are designed to give participants an opportunity to meet, hear from, and ask questions of local scientists.
Events are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm, and details on each month’s theme and speaker can be found on the Michiana Science Cafe Facebook page. You can also sign up to receive notifications about each month’s event through SPI’s email list serv.
“Fantastic engagement with the community! I am a student and find that it’s always accessible whether or not the topic is within my field and the event is always run so well. It’s very cool and motivating to see the community engage with science.”
