This blog is devoted not only to academics, but also to practitioners and professionals within the Catholic Church who are seeking to better understand and engage their religious community.

The Catholic Conversation blog is an extension of the Catholic Social and Pastoral Research Initiative (CSPRI- pronounced CaSPRI), which was conceived as a collaboration between the Institute for Church Life and the Center for the Study of Religion and Society. CSPRI seeks to conduct top-notch social science research that is theologically informed and pastorally relevant, but we also desire to provide institutional spaces where other researchers studying Catholics and Catholicism can engage the broader Catholic public with their findings and insights. This blog is one such attempt.

Our hope is that researchers, by interacting with interested and engaged participants at all levels within the Church, will be better able to identify and answer research questions that are of practical–as well as academic–interest to the Catholic community.
