The Ballroom Club offers affordable, beginner-friendly dancing opportunities for ND and SMC students. Our club is a vibrant mix of undergraduate, graduate, and law students. While some members start with a background in dance, many begin dancing for the first time with our club. We offer lessons twice a week with professional ballroom coaches and host a student social each Thursday. The club is a great social opportunity for many of our dancers, and we host a formal each semester to try out what we have learned. We are active in the ND community, performing at events like the TroopND showcase and Art Attack. This March, we even had four dancers perform alongside the South Bend Symphony Orchestra!
In addition to these opportunities, our club sends dancers to participate in local collegiate dancesport competitions each semester. This year, we attended the Ohio Star Ball Collegiate Challenge and the Northwestern Dancesport Classic. Many of our dancers, including newcomers, placed across competitive levels! Additionally, our club organizes and hosts our signature event, the Irish Dancesport Gala, each year. Ballroom clubs from all over travel to participate in our home competition, which has become a staple of the Midwest ballroom community.
This club means a lot to its members! We hope that our club can continue to provide a high-quality experience for its members and represent Notre Dame and St. Mary’s in the greater ballroom community. ND Day is a chance for organizations across Notre Dame to raise money. If you are able to support us, we appreciate any donation, no matter the size!
If you would like to see us in action, we will be performing on April 29 at 11:06PM on the ND Day livestream! Tune in to watch our members show off their skills. You can visit the ND Day website to learn more about the broadcast schedule and how to give.
