I had an incredible time presenting at the SFB 2025 conference in Chicago! On the morning of April 10th, I had the opportunity to take the stage in the Antimicrobial
Biomaterials 1 Session (3C) to discuss a major breakthrough our lab has been working on.
My talk, “Wound Healing Promoted by Broad-Spectrum, Phage Structure Mimicking, Synthetic Antibacterial Nanoparticles,” tackled a massive problem in healthcare: antibiotic resistance.
We demonstrated how our synthetic, phage-like nanoparticles can step in where traditional treatments fail, specifically clearing out tough MDR ESKAPE infections to allow wounds to heal properly. The feedback from the room was encouraging, and it’s exciting to see how the field of antimicrobial biomaterials is evolving.
A huge thanks to my colleagues at Notre Dame (Juliane Hopf, Carlie Kudary, Shaun Lee, and the whole team) for the hard work that went into this study!
