We are excited to announce support for the Health Data and Analytics Challenge (HDAC), a forward-thinking initiative designed to harness the power of data to solve pressing real-world health issues. Building on the success of the 2024 Health Equity Data Science Challenge, HDAC is set to become an annual event that amplifies the University’s Bioengineering & Life Sciences (BELS) mission.
This program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to:
- Analyze Real-World Datasets: Students will work with actual health data to detect population-level differences and identify critical gaps in access to care.
- Develop Actionable Interventions: Beyond analysis, teams will recommend concrete interventions to improve health outcomes and service quality.
- Showcase Talent: The challenge serves as a pipeline for Notre Dame data science talent, allowing students to present their solutions to a panel of judges from industry, government, and academia.
A collaboration between the Berthiaume Institute for Precision Health (AD Prakash Nallathamby) and the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society (MD Katie Liu), and supported by the Provost’s strategic BELS initiative, HDAC aims to equip the next generation of leaders with the multidisciplinary tools and techniques needed to advance human health.
