Congratulations to Our Newest PhD Candidate, Aurelie Brownsberger! 🎓

A huge congratulations to Aurelie Brownsberger for passing her qualifying exam on November 12, 2025! This major milestone marks her official transition to PhD Candidate in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.

Aurelie’s work is at the cutting edge of precision medicine. She is engineering “smart” nanoparticles (Dox-MagSiNs) that act as trojan horses for chemotherapy—staying harmless in the body until they are magnetically activated at the cancer site. By targeting aggressive metastatic cancers like Triple Negative Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer, her research aims to shrink tumors while drastically improving patients’ post-treatment quality of life.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Aurelie’s expertise in mammalian cell culture and her problem-solving drive in the lab. We look forward to seeing her continue to innovate in the field of biomaterials and drug delivery!
