In many an Irish fan’s minds, the “Blue-Gold Game” is automatically associated with football. But over the past several years, the Notre Dame Women’s Water Polo Team has held their own Blue-Gold Game in the midst of chilly December. This growing tradition has drawn many alums, parents and friends over to the Rolfs Aquatic Center to cheer on their friends in the pool. This year, captains Rachael Glenister (Gold Team) and Sarah Fleming (Blue Team) had chosen teams each with their own unique sets of skills and strengths. In the end, Gold Team took the prize with the score of 11 – 6, pulling away in the third quarter after being tied at halftime. However, in true Notre Dame fashion, the fans and players concluded the game singing the Alma Mater. It was a fantastic game. Many thanks to our coach, Brian Coughlin for his guidance and reffing as well as to the Notre Dame Men’s Water Polo Team for working the table and scoreboard.
