After a hard loss to Middlebury in the first round at Nationals, the Fighting Irish lived up to their name and continued to push through the weekend finishing strong, capturing 9th place overall at the CWPA National Championship Tournament. Wins again Columbia University and University of California allowed the Irish to take on Portland State University in their final game of the 2013 season. Senior Victoria Anglin tallied up three penalty shots, drawn by sophomore Ellen Dowling and freshman Colleen Fricke. Dowling also racked in three goals. Overall, seven members of the Fighting Irish contributed to the final score of 11 – 6. Junior goalie Sarah Fleming provided a solid effort defensively with 9 saves. Fleming, along with Dowling and Fricke, received Player of the Game accolades over the course of the weekend.
