During Fall Break, I was one of 30 Notre Dame MBA students who visited San Francisco for Notre Dame’s annual Bay Area Trek. This year’s group visited nine companies over four days in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
The Bay Area Trek gives students the opportunity to visit companies of all magnitudes, ranging from SAP (75,000+ employees) to Grain (2 full-time employees). The goal is for students to gain perspectives on the different opportunities available in the Bay Area, and to determine if they are interested in pursuing internships or a full-time opportunities in the area. Although I was exhausted by the end of the week, I gained valuable insights and connections to a number of companies that could only be achieved through face-to-face interaction. Football is (obviously) a big part of life at Notre Dame – even for students in the MBA program. Here are some tips:
1. Most MBA students buy student season tickets! Once you’re enrolled in the program, you’ll receive directions on how to do this.
2. Even if you don’t want to attend the games, you’re still welcome to attend the MBA tailgate, which is widely considered to be the best gameday party in northern Indiana*. Alumni and friends of the program have been known to stop by, and companies interested in hiring students will occasionally sponsor the festivities. Welcome to MBA IRISH ECHOES—Notre Dame’s newest student-led blog! My name is Sylvia Banda and I hail from the northern suburbs of Indianapolis (a truly underrated city). I am entering Year Two of Notre Dame’s wildly famous MBA program and am happy to be the first contributor to this special launch.
You might be wondering, why launch a blog? Well, great question! The reason is simple. My classmates are awesome. So many of them are making big impacts both inside and outside of the business school. This blog will let everyone know about all of these amazing activities.
