From the Acting Chair
This spring marks the retirement of Dr. Mark Pilkinton after 32 years of service to Notre Dame. During his career, Mark directed fifteen productions for the Department (from 1984 through 2008), created the New Playwrights Workshop (1998), and served as Department Chair for thirteen years (between 1984 and 2003). Mark is not only a theatre historian – he is the historian of theatre at Notre Dame. Author of Washington Hall at Notre Dame (2011), Mark has served for many years as co-editor of the Notre Dame Theatre Chronology, a database containing essential details of campus theatre productions from 1845 to the present day. Mark also initiated the “From The Archives” note in our programs to help our audiences understand our long tradition of theatre at Notre Dame. Thank you, Mark, for molding the Department into the one we have today. Don’t make yourself a stranger!
